Project results

The educational program will provide youth workers with the essential knowledge about applying the digital storytelling approach in non-formal education activities targeted to youth and its usage as a capacity-building tool to handle challenges and improve resilience.

Educational resources will assist youth workers in arranging activities with young people utilizing the proposed methods, providing them with activity plans, exercises, and accompanying materials to support young people’s learning process.

It will consist in the development of a Manual for young people, and in the Development of bite-sized eLearning course. The manual will encourage young people’s creativity, inspiring them to express themselves creatively through videos.

Digital Storytelling educational program

The first result of the project, the Digital Storytelling Educational Program provides essential knowledge to youth workers about the level of usage of digital storytelling in non-formal activities targeted to youth in all partners’ countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Portugal and The Netherlands) and the level of usage of digital storytelling as a capacity building tool to empower youth to actively react to challenges of our age. As part of the educational programme development, we carried out extensive research including literature review, surveys, interviews and review of best practices.

Aims of the project result:

  • To create state of the art analysis of the usage of digital storytelling methods in non-formal education targeting the youth, focusing on utilising it as a capacity – building tool;
  • Examination of youth workers’ needs and competencies required for using digital storytelling and their needs and competencies when approaching mental health issues among youth;
  • Serve as a starting point for the preparation of the digital storytelling curriculum and training programme for the youth workers.

Covering the needs of youth workers and young people based on surveys and interviews. The method will produce tools and techniques from gathered data which will be then translated into educational modules. The educational program will provide youth workers with the essential knowledge about applying the digital storytelling approach in non-formal education activities targeted to youth and its usage as a capacity-building tool to handle challenges and improve resilience. The program will give youth workers direction on which digital storytelling methods are most successful when applied as a capacity-building tool, encompass a range of activities targeted at youth, and offer examples of achieved effects.

Educational resources for young people

This result offers a Manual for young people: providing examples of digital storytelling and a step by step pathway into digital storytelling. The manual encourages young people’s creativity, inspires them to express themselves creatively through various art-forms that are available. It encourages self directed learning, and individual reflection. It has space for notes and doodles, drawings, and ideas, encouraging young people visually to explore their own ideas for digital storytelling.

In addition, this result includes a bite-sized e-learning with short modules which are highly effective in providing rapid learning.

This project result…

  • helps young people gaining new skills in digital storytelling in various art forms such as digital arts, digital music, design skills, photography, useful tools which complement and enhance digital storytelling.
  • Provides tips and tricks in practicing safety whilst online, safe use of social media, online PR and marketing, branding and communicating, promoting digital stories via social media.
  • Provides rapid bite sized learning modules and compliment young people’s formal learning with useful knowledge that will improve their competences, communication skills and mental wellbeing.
